• Steve has changed his mind and decided that he would like to have a child of his own with Zoe, and the more he thinks about it , the more he likes the idea. He may have thought that Zoe would be really positive about having his child. Sometimes, it comes as a surprise when someone you love holds a different view about something that is really important  to you. It can feel like a personal rejection when they disagree. It is vital that issues like this are talked through together, without either partner making assumptions about the reasons for their partner's decision. But this is an area where there is no compromise, and the desire to have a child is sometimes the reason why a relationship breaks down.
